![]() I do have artistic skills but others in our group do not and they did well. We wanted to do something other than hang out at a bar or restaurant. I recently went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. This is something fun and different to do, very reasonably priced and I guarantee you'll leave feeling really proud of yourself that you made such a great painting! Overall this was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone, whether you have artistic skills or not. What a great idea for someone who loves art! Also they do host couples nights where they have paintings called wine-pour so you and your other half can each paint your own canvas but when you hang them they will go together. They had ordered food and were able to select their own painting and had their own dedicated instructor. There was a party going on while we were there. The parking garage (Memorial) is about a 5 minute walk away and costs no more than $7 (depending on what time you arrive).Īnother thing to note is they do have a separate room for private parties. It's in a safe location, in Blue Back Square near Cheesecake Factory. The atmosphere of Muse is great - they played great music and the people were nice (mostly women). There are also hairdryers available to make sure your painting is dry before you take off. When you're finished, the staff is more than happy to take pictures of you and your painting. It is really neat to see 50 different people's interpretation of the same thing! The painting takes about 2 1/2 hours to complete. Also she was very encouraging to people who were being a bit hard on themselves. They're very good about coming over to help if you feel you need help. Then we start painting! The instructor takes you step-by-step through the whole process, painting one herself so she can show you. Everything is at your table for you already so you are all ready to go. See pictures for menus.Īn instructor gets up right at your reservation time and gives you an overview of the set up of the room (where extra paint is, hand-washing stations, etc) and tells you about the different paintbrushes and supplies you will use. We did not eat at Muse but did have some wine, which was very good. Most expense dinner on the menu is $13 so very affordable. They do have a diverse menu of small bites, big bites, hot soups, cold plates and desserts. You can start arriving 30 minutes before your reservation time, which I recommend as there's a nice selection of food and wine and also lots of really nice paintings to look at. When you arrive, there is a sign at the door that provides you instructions of what to do (find your name on canvas, hang coat & grab apron, visit bar for food/drinks while you wait). Within 24 hours you'll receive a 50% off voucher for future session. Cancel for a full refund if it's 48 hours before your reservation and store credit if it's 24 hours before your reservation. Payment is required at the time of booking but the cancellation policy is pretty relaxed. Making a reservation online is really easy - pull up their calendar on the website, select painting and date that works for you and reserve. Neither of us have any artistic ability at all and were a little skeptical that we'd be able to make a decent painting. My friend and I visited Muse recently for our first time. We enjoyed the hip, woke, diverse, accepting, fun experience at Muse. We recommend you get off work early and go to the bar in Flora, which is just around the block it has a terrific happy hour with $5 drinks and $5 to 8 small plates starting at 4 pm. The arrival time for a 7 pm session is 6:30. We visited on a Friday night so at $45 each the investment for 5 was $225. Session prices vary depending on day of the week. The snacks unfortunately lean toward unhealthy. There is a bar and the prices are mid-range. Even if you have no real experience/aptitude for painting (like me) she makes you feel comfortable. Lisa, our lead artist, standing on a small elevated stage, demonstrated each stroke as we went along in 90 minutes. They grouped us comfortably together on one large table with 5 canvasses and set ups. The idea was to do something together, chat, and drink a drink. 5 of us, including our adult daughters, made our Father’s Day family get together a session at Muse Paint Bar in West Hartford.
